30 weeks

How Far Along: 30 weeks
How Big is Baby: 16.25 - 17 inches. Around 3 lbs
What is Baby up to: As baby' skin smoothes out, her brain just keeps getting more wrinkled. All those grooves and indentations increase surface area, meaning more room for that oh-so essential brain tissue. She's also adding some brawn - her grip is now strong enough to grasp a finger.
Total Weight Gain: +7ish
Best Moment this Week: Seeing the baby move on the outside! Was finally moving high enough and I was paying attention! Also finishing painting the nursery!
Movement: Lots! Afternoon and evening. Also in the middle of the night whenever I get up to pee.
Belly Button: Inny.
What I Miss: Good quality medicine. Being able to hold my bladder easily.
What I am Looking Forward To: Starting parenting for newborn class next week!
Gender: Thinking Girl...But also thinking boy from how I am carrying/gaining weight.

Ramblings

Just a random update......

Monday went to the dentist. Was not a bad appointment. It is a good thing when I only have to go there every 6 months! I just really don't like the poking and prodding they do in my mouth. So uncomfortable. And sucked even more that I had a cough. But it is over and done with and don't have to go back till December!

I am so tired of being sick! Every day the cough is getting better. Took my last antibiotic today! I am sleeping much better too!

I feel so bad for the dogs. I really want to take them on walks, but with the coughing and wheezing I havn't been up for it. Hopefully tomorrow they will get a walk.

I have been so bad. Been over 2 weeks since I went grocery shopping. Like real grocery shopping. Been busy and sick over the weekends just wasn't up for it. Either sending Nick tonight while I am at agility class or going tomorrow!

This week has been dragging. Excited for a 3 day weekend! Need to do a lot of cleaning (carpet cleaning included), weed wacking, weed pulling, and I am going to visit my aunt in Mass! Is it really only Wednesday?

Woot 30 weeks today! Eeek! Hard to believe I am that far and how we are no where close to ready!

I actually am dealing with the heat well so far. I do love the heat! Even tho being pregnant, i did notice the humidity more... But I was sleeping well and not uncomfortable yet. Was 90 yesterday, going to be 92 today. But doing well. We are going to look for an ac soon for our bedroom. With a newborn, I don't want to make it suffer with the wonderful New England August.

Oh speaking of New England summers... time to start storing bread in the fridge so it does not mold as fast! The humidity just loves to make our bread mold so quickly!

After I finished this, I realized I had some more ramblings......

Yesterday, I walked a few blocks in my flip flops. I have worn these flip flops before. A lot. But I got some nice blisters on my feet from them. Wonderful! So now I am wearing tennis shoes (or sneakers whatever you call them where you are) when it is nice out and all I want to wear are sandals!

Oh yesterday was awesome! Got home, was siting on the couch. Still wearing a lightweight dress. And totally saw the baby moving around! It was kicking up high, so I was able to see it! Was awesome!

Breastfeeding class

Today we had a breastfeeding class from 9-1. I found it very informative. Nick was probably bored out of his mind, but am so happy that he joined. There was one other guy there at least.

They went over different holds, how important it is to only breastfeed for the first 2ish weeks. Then about pumping and storing. They had a lot of different madela pumps there. I was thinking about getting the 'hands free' one, but didn't realize it was just an extra attachment for your bra. So not what I was thinking and not worth the extra money.

Now to call up insurance to see if they cover part of a pump. Found it interesting that the hospital sells the pumps cheaper than babies r us (by $30).

29 weeks!

How Far Along: 29 weeks
How Big is Baby: As of appointment on Tuesday 2.5 lbs!
What is Baby up to: If you've been feeling butterflies moving around in your belly, its not just your run-of-the-mill pre-birth performance anxiety. No it's your amazing baby with a case of the hiccups: a fairly common occurrence at this point resulting from practice breathing for their big birthday. In addition, to getting a round of butterfly-like hiccups, your little swimmer has arduously managed to accumulate enough baby fat to account for nearly 3.5% of their overall body weight. Yeah, compared to we adults, it's not alot, but when they're little like that - it's certainly a healthy accomplishment in its way. Another fantastic accomplishment: your baby's spleen is now in charge of hematopoiesis - the 10 dollar name for the process involved in building up certain important blood components. Another fantastic accomplishment: your little monkey has been peeing into their amniotic sac for a little while now and if you didn't know, actually swallows it along with the rest of the amniotic fluid. Although the concept is nasty, their urine is sterile and as a part of amniotic fluid base, is replaced several times a day.
Total Weight Gain: +7ish
Best Moment this Week: Seeing the baby's face on the ultrasound!
Movement: Afternoon and evening. Also in the middle of the night.
Belly Button: Inny.
What I Miss: Bending over easily - sleeping through the night - not having to pee every time I stand up. Taking good medicine for my cough.
What I am Looking Forward To: Finishing the master closet and finishing painting the nursery! Breastfeeding class on Saturday!
Gender: Thinking Girl...

Ultrasound update!!!

Had an OB appointment today and had an ultrasound to check the placenta. The placenta has moved so I don't need a c-section! Good News! The baby is 2 lbs 8 oz (2.5 lbs)! Everything looked good. So happy for everything.

During the ultrasound, the baby was being stubborn and didn't want to be seen and kept moving everywhere. But we did get some good pictures. Its legs were over its head! Nick said Gymnast or swimming diver... Was so cute! We got some great visuals of the face - better in person vs picture - both of us think it has the McNamara nose! So much in love!

OB appointment went well. Now going every 2 weeks! That is going to help make the remaining time fly!

Now for pictures!

Car Searching

So yesterday we decided to start looking for a new car - well a replacement car for my Mitsubishi Lancer - which has front air bags and that is about it for safety features. We are also looking for more of a family friendly car...

We started off the day looking at Nissan, specifically the Nissan Rogue. I thought it drove well and really enjoyed the seats. It is odd adjusting to a higher up car as well as an automatic. I am not a fan of where the emergency brake is (on the floor). I always forget these types of e-brakes. Every time I drive a car with one I drive for a few miles with it on. Will take adjustment I bet. The dealership was the typical dealership - talking with manager and seeing what they can do. We left since we are just beginning our search for a family car. They did the whole line "What is holding you back of getting this car today... made me giggle.

We then went to Subaru to test drive the subaru outback and the subaru imprezza 5 door. We love the handling and the space of the outback. But the head rests are so uncomfortable! I think it will take some playing with to get it comfy, and getting used to. But this car was fun to drive, and felt like a sedan, not like a bigger suv. The dealership was no hassle and no pressure. Completely felt comfortable there. They are the number 1 subaru dealership in New England. The way they negotiate is to show you the invoice of what they paid and show you the window sticker and ask to give them a few hundred and you are on your way. The guy was really honest with us - Said that the end of the month you can get the best deals since they are trying to reach quota and after quota they get a bonus for each car!

We told Nissian about my car as a possible trade in. Ooops. Everywhere I read says you don't do that till after negotiations of the car are done. With the trade in of my car, it looks like the Rogue would be about 18K...not bad not bad. Now need to continue that negotiation and need to start negotiating with subaru. Really seeing what we can get for our money.

Need to make a pro con list of each car...

But today driving my car into work, a 2002 Mitsubishi lancer, I started to think how much I will miss driving that car. It is such a fun little car to drive! I have had this car for 6 years! And has treated me well. It has very low mileage (70,000) and is a good car. Definitely a fantastic car for a teenager or someone in college. Just not going to work as a family car. It is just that I have gotten attached to it.... We are going to start cleaning it out tonight. **sniff**sniff** And we will vacuum and clean it so that it looks its best!

Going to be so odd transitioning from standard to automatic. But with a baby in the back seat, I don't want to worry about shifting!

Angel

OK last night I got too excited! Angel (you know the spinoff from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is on netflix watch instantly! All 5 seasons!! So exciting! WE watched 3 episodes last night and I know I will watch more tonight! I have been thinking about getting the series on dvd (I have all 7 seasons of Buffy), but now I get to watch them all! Need to do my research on what episodes are crossovers so maybe I'll watch the buffy one first and then the angel one!

Now some pictures of Angel...(the first one I had a poster of when I was in hs..)
