We made our anniversary dinner last night (since Mondays is never a fun night to make a romantic meal). We made Fondu together - was a lot of fun, and was nice to switch off whisking the fondu :)
Here is the recipe we used:
1 pound Swiss cheese, grated
1/2 Gruyère cheese, grated
3 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground white pepper (was 1/2 but we both love pepper)
1 1/4 cups (about) dry white wine
3-5 large garlic cloves, minced
Combine both cheeses, flour, nutmeg, and white pepper in large bowl; toss to coat. Bring 1 cup wine and garlic to simmer in a heavy large saucepan over low heat. Add cheese mixture by handfuls, whisking until melted and smooth after each addition. Mix in more wine by tablespoonfuls to reach desired consistency. Transfer to fondue pot.
For dippables: broccoli, apples, french bread, roasted purple potatoes, steak, and for Nick mini saussages. The only ones we finished were the apples and broccoli. The dogs got quite a bit of meat too. What was best dipping in my opinion was the apples and the potatoes and of course bread.
